Busy
Haha. I've not got much time to blog now uni's hit full swing.
Recent news- my involvement with the motorsport program at uni resulted in me being picked second for best construction worker- behind a guy who is building a fuel tank and firewall. Not bad considering i only notch tubes for the chassis and do the odd bit of solidworks stuff! We recently had the social day at Willowbank Raceway. It was there i learnt how much fun it is to thrash a go-kart and stuff. The team leaders organized a raffle - the best drivers of the day and a few with tasks like construction (like me) were chosen. the guy building the fuel tank wasnt there - so i won a drive in the 2005 F-SAE car! however in delicious irony, i dont have a manual license, so i couldn't drive it! suckage.
I also went out a couple of days ago and saw Avenged Sevenfold live in concert. They were pretty damn good live. The singer started to lose the ol' voice by the end so he was just screaming. Not like that isn't what they do well anyway, so :)
I finally got my QOTSA print back from the picture framer's too. It looks fucking horn and as an added bonus my room doesn't look like i have a man-fetish for Bruce Lee.
Thats all thats exciting and i have time for - i might add something in a week or two.

Do i have to?
Hey. Haven't posted in a while, so thought it might be the time to add something new.
Had a decent day... i went to uni for an hour tutorial for Engineering Mechanics 2. And went home. Timetabling can be a bitch in uni - i've observed and have also been told by older undergrads that it gets better as you progress through your course (meaning we go less days per week), but from where im sitting, it still sucks. I have classes that could be fit into two big days but they're spread out over the entire working week. Oh well.
After uni i caught the bus home from the city and stopped by a mate's joint. From his place we went to Chermside shops (as he was looking to get a hair cut/buy a new phone/both) and found the phone he was after was only available locked to a network :( i suggested we check out the place i got my phone over at Hamilton. It was about a half hour's drive, but this was cool 'cause it's always an experience riding in his car.....not so much for the speed, his driving or the interior... because of the sound :) My mate has installed quite a lot of car audio and it rocks somewhat hard - 120 dB between the front driver and passenger seats if you want!
He ended up buying a little slim one, a Motorola L6. Nice phone.
I guess the only bad thing about today was my back giving me trouble. I've grown up with mild scoliosis in my spine and it hadn't given me trouble until a work accident where i fell on my bum whilst holding a heavy load. I compressed my T11 and T12 discs in the lumbar (lower region) of my back and it's been a bitch since. It has a tendency to cramp up in cold weather or when i strain it lightly leaving me unable to bend over much if at all and sore and stiff. It sucks.
That was my day, pretty much.
I'll post something of more significance soon.
Cheers

Perfection gets the better of me.
God im pointless sometimes. Perfection gets the better of me.... i spent about 3 hours of today hunting down parts for a mod job i wanted to do to my computer.... see it has two fans at the back right, and spaces for another two at the bottom-front. I decided, being the enterprising lad i am, that i'd go chuck two fans in the space there - hell its a bit of insurance just in case the hard drive ever got hot and wanted to cark it (they blow over it). Anyho, with these being so close to you (the computer sits on the desk about a foot away from me) i decided wouldnt it be great to put in a switch to turn the fans off in winter when they aren't needed and quieten things a bit?
Skip to today - im at the electronics parts store buying wire, a soldering iron, switch and shrink wrap. I take all my shit home, realise im going to need to put somewhere to put these tools so get out my old toolbox and clean it, re-organise the tools to fit the new shit in, take all the shit i need out, cut wire, solder, cut, solder et cetera. This took the better of two odd hours to do (since i HAVE to do it right) and shitloads of effort when in hindsight it might have been easier to just take off the side of the case and unplug them. Why? pointlessness gets the better of me.
This seems to be a trait i have... the perfectionist. I dont muck in too much when the boys are making something as i have to make it perfect.. whereas people just want it done. Argh. Still, i get things done. I even get a perverse sense of joy when i know i cant do anything - I decided to try and cultivate and grow a couple of cactus a month or two ago. These of all plants i had to pick (cactus actually thrive on neglect so to speak as they hate being overwatered). Never mind.
On a different subject, i'd reccomend the new Butterfly Effect album "Imago" to music lovers (Hector D?). It has a great musical depth.... the guys seem to be able to layer their sounds better now. They are local too - i ran into them by chance at a record store in the city when i was buying some QOTSA vinyl for a mate's present. It was by chance the day they were doing an in-store signing... nice blokes - they offered me autographs but had nothing for them to sign. Oh well.
I better get some sleep - its coming on 1 am.
G'night.

Rainy Day
Bah.
I'm stuck inside today as its decided to rain. This in itself isnt bad though, we're in the middle of a great big fucker of a drought here in Aus. Its almost comical too - every time we get a bit of decent rain to top up the dams (which are only at about 30% capacity) it falls over the city or Moreton bay. This sucks as it isnt falling over the catchment areas and we still have low dam levels. Oh well.
I'm a bit bored of late - my site for all things obscure and Asian (Asian DVD Club) was taken down when the swedish authorities , pressured by trade embargoes/restrictions from the US and it's fucking MPAA, confiscated servers belonging to the operators of "The Pirate Bay" - the largest bitorrent tracker on the web. This in itself isnt a worry as the Pirate Bay was up and running again in a different country within the week, however the place that ran these servers also ran ADC's and so i'm without access to old martial arts movies and the like. I only really used it to get old DVD's that arent easily available here in Aus. - Shaw Bros. and Golden Harvest stuff made in the 70's/80's etc. Regardless, it could be considered piracy by the long eyes of the law so i dont have much of a right to bitch about it.
I havent been (out) out in a while now. I think the last time was when the group decided to make an occasion of going to the local pub. Jess and a friend had plans to go clubbing that night but they didnt end up making the last bus into the City. The friend's BF is a bit of an insecure guy though - he cant stand to let her go out by herself let alone talk to other guys - he 'banned' her from doing that unless she okayed him to flirt with anyone (as he must have thought that's what was going on ~ paranoid). Bit of a double standard though - he flirts (and touches) other chicks away from her. Bet she doesnt know that.... Never mind, other people's troubles are their business i guess.
Back to going out....i think a mate's best friend is having his 18th on the weekend. Provided im invited to that i might end up going (the boys rang me yesterday arvo asking if i wanted to come round and join the piss-up, they were sposed to ring us back after dinner but i suspect they got to pissed and forgot :P). Jess has a bit of an urge to hit the clubs too, so we might do that as well. Who knows?
Keep well kids.

Break time
I'm enjoying the uni break at the moment - lasting three weeks, its sure to be a welcome break from thinking of any kind. I just finished exams - two three hour's and a two hour forty minute one. Mathematics, Mechanics and Physics 1C - shit, decent and great respectively. I hope to pass three of the four, but am sure i will need to repeat mathematics. It's a bit disconcerting to fail something that is intristic to what i will end up doing with the rest of my life, but im sure its just a problem of application rather than talent.
Uni itself - i chose to study Mechanical engineering. This stemmed from my fascination with machines and how they work - im a car and bike nut. I have a particular fascination with bikes - MotoGP is crazy as something that only weighs 170kg could get you to 300km/h in about 25secs whilst only having a contact patch about the size of mobile phone! that in itself is nuts but i believe bikes are where all the engine development is today. I'd also heard about the QUT Motorsport program. This is along the veins of Formula SAE and is open-wheeled racing and all work is done solely by students, who compete amongst each other under the banner of their institution and go on to the world level, should they do well. This really sounded good to me, and it seemed the most logical option toward getting into a career in motorsport.
I only really just managed to scrape in this year as i got an op 10 (just above average) after putting in a last ditch effort to get my grades up, which had gone to shit after my parents' split affected my ability to think with any depth. Nevertheless i got in, and intend to make good on the opportunity i've been given.
I'm still with girlfriend Jess - it's coming on two years in September and we're still looking strong :)
Should be hitting the pubs and clubs tonight, after dinner with mum as im taking her to celebrate her 56th birthday.
Have a good one kids.

Back again
Hey there.
A quick intro - i'm 18 and about 6' tall. People describe me as brutally honest, lacking in social consideration, etc. I'm a capricorn, go figure. I have dark brown hair and blue eyes. I dont follow trends or go against them either. I have expensive taste. Music i like primarily revolves around QOTSA or Kyuss, but i'll listen to anything before commenting on it. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering at uni. I dont have a job at the moment as i refuse to work with food again. I would would descibe myself as an eccentric as i have obscure taste.
I think that gives anyone enough of an idea...
something of substance to follow soon.

Hey
Decided to start blogging again, for fuck knows what reason. Look forward to me venting my thoughts/musings/frustrations in general. Whatever.
